Choosing a wedding venue is one of the first big decisions a couple makes, and often the one every other decision follows — your guest count, your date, even your colour palette can end up shaped by the venue you book. Before you sign anything, it is worth asking a handful of direct questions.

What is actually included in the price?

Venue quotes can look very different once you compare what is actually included. Tables, chairs, linen, a bridal suite, setup and pack-down time — ask for a full written list rather than relying on a verbal summary.

How much time do we get on the day?

Some venues quote a ceremony-and-reception package with a hard finish time; others allow a more relaxed, all-day hire. Ask how early your suppliers can access the space, and how late your reception can run.

What happens if it rains?

For any venue with an outdoor ceremony space, a wet-weather plan matters. Ask to see the indoor or covered alternative in person, not just hear about it.

Can we bring our own suppliers?

Some venues require you to use a preferred supplier list for catering or bar service; others are fully flexible. Confirm this early, especially if you already have a caterer or celebrant in mind.

How many weddings run on the same day?

Ask whether the venue hosts one wedding at a time or multiple simultaneous events. This affects everything from parking to noise to how much attention your event gets from the venue team on the day.
